Taking Clothes from Charity Organisations

by | 19 Nov 2020 | Q&A, Ṣadaqah, Zakāh

Question:

Could you please inform me whether it’s permissible to accept clothes from charity organizations? I think that they gather clothes from all people and then distribute it among needy. So I don’t know: maybe some bank officer or alcohol seller gave these clothes, and I don’t accept it.

Am I right or it’s an incorrect view?

(Question published as received)

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

It is permissible to take clothes from charity organisations if one is qualified to accept charity, even though they may come from a bank officer or an alcohol seller.

And Allah knows best
