Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Waʿalaykumus salām wa-raḥmatullāhi wa-barakātuh

According to the Ḥanafī Madhhab, iṭṭiṣāl al-ṣufūf (connection between the rows) is necessary when joining the jamāʿah (congregation) from outside the masjid and its courtyard. There is no requirement for the rows to be connected inside the masjid and its courtyard for ṣalāh to be valid. However, if there is a gap of 2.5 metres between the rows outside the masjid and its courtyard then the rows are regarded as disconnected. It has been observed that when people join the jamāʿah on the streets in the Ḥaramayn some of the rows are not connected to the final row of the courtyard of the masjid. For a row that is disconnected because of a gap of 2.5 metres or more anywhere between their row and the final row of the masjid courtyard, the ṣalāh will not be accepted.

And Allah knows best
